Vaché "1832" 2013 Négrette

Coming from my ancestor’s vineyard, this beautiful Négrette was planted in the mid-1800’s. Cienega valley is bisected by the San Andreas Fault, and grapes benefit from the moderate climate in the 1,100-feet plus elevations which allows the perfect condition to Dry farming these ancient vines to produce the ultimate in the deep structure of flavors.

Rich, deep dark purple and almost black in color.  Fruit forward with notes of black cherry, ripe black plum, and violet aromas. Full mouthfeel and structured tannins roll into rich flavors of vanilla, clove, chocolate, and espresso. Négrette expresses pure elegance and will lay down for many years. Double barrel production.

Soils on the east side of the fault line are fragmented granite and crumbled sandstone, while on the west side they are mostly granite and limestone. AVA encompasses a few hundred acres are currently planted. My great uncle Theophile Vaché has been accredited as the founding father of Cienega Valley and it’s wine region
